Why Focus on Teams?

Reputationally among teachers, team meetings are often perceived as time-consuming, superfluous, and ineffective.

However

“when grade-level teams [are] provided with consistent meeting times, schoolwide instructional leadership, and explicit protocols that [focus] on students’ academic needs and how they might be instructionally addressed,” educators often observe “significant achievement gains” (Saunders et al., 2009, p. 1007).

In other words, if done correctly, team meetings drive stronger student outcomes.




This is why we focus on teams.

It is the reality that when teachers show up prepared and equipped to adeptly collaborate and navigate discussions on data-driven, instructional improvement, both educator and student are primed to succeed. Now that’s an idea we can get behind!
